Thiruvananthapuram: A captivating new theatre experience, The Legend, Myths and Magic, has premiered at Magic Planet, Kazhakoottam, transforming folklore into a spellbinding visual spectacle. Set on a newly launched permanent stage, the production reimagines the legendary tale of Kaipuzha Thamban, the iconic magician from Aithihyamala, and his astonishing encounter with Swathi Thirunal.

Audiences were transported through time as Emily, an English scholar researching Aithihyamala, journeyed into the royal court of Swathi Thirunal.

The drama unveiled magical illusions - including a motor car, an enormous ship, a gigantic eagle, and a dramatic thunderstorm - bringing gasps of wonder from spectators. The visual storytelling merged history, legend, and technology into an unforgettable experience.

The inaugural show was officially opened by minister for culture, Saji Cherian, who praised the production as a powerful bridge between generations. "This artistic tribute to Aithihyamala allows the younger generation to rediscover the richness of Kerala’s literary and cultural legacy," he said. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to establishing permanent theatres that support the performing arts and applauded Magic Planet and Gopinath Muthukad for their visionary contribution.

The event was presided over by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Chairman Karivellur Murali. Theatre director Hashim Amaravila, who wrote and directed the play, was honoured at the function. Gopinath Muthukad, Executive Director of Different Art Centre, welcomed the gathering, while Magic Planet Operations Manager Sunilraj C.K. delivered the vote of thanks.

Speaking on the occasion, Muthukad noted, “By blending history, culture, and magic, The Legend, Myths and Magic offers not just entertainment but a cultural revival. It’s a tribute to our literary traditions and a step toward preserving them for future generations.”

The show follows the centre’s earlier success with a dramatization of Shakespeare’s The Tempest and continues its mission of merging art, literature, and technology. Now open to visitors at Magic Planet, this 30-minute production promises to enchant audiences with its immersive storytelling, magical performances, and historical richness.
